State Highway 2 between Napier and Wairoa was closed until further notice due to extensive landslips and surface flooding. Major landslips in the Devils Elbow and Waikouau Hill areas and other minor slips have blocked the road.  SH2 was also underwater around Tūtira where rising water had covered the road and nearby farms.
