Moving Day is Tomorrow

Sounds like a title for an episode of The Twilight Zone.  And maybe in a way it is for us!

In case you missed my earlier posts (this is Matthew Hintzen writing, btw) Matthew Ritch is the usual poster to this blog and his entries are running currently about 3 weeks behind in time from where we REALLY are.  And in the past 3 weeks a lot has happened.  So much so that we are moving tomorrow, Wednesday, 10th of October 2010.

The house is not completed yet, by any stretch of the imagination, but we will have a working toilet, bathroom sink, heating (and cooling) lights, and outlets, one Oven (no stove top yet), so it is inhabitable… barely!

We just ran out of time at our rental and new renters “kicked” us out a week and a half earlier then we thought (long story, not worth spending time on, other than to note, it means “… Marines; we are Leaving…”  (quick what movie does that come from, my favorite sci-fi thriller).

We have a lot of work still ahead of us, but it is exciting!

We are going dark for the next few days, I’ll post when we come back online.

Geting Started

An old friend of mine (who I had the pleasure of working with for many years), has been working on a MAJOR renovation / improvement to his house in Carpinteria. As a part of the massive project he had taken the time to Blog and document it here.  His project has gone just a LITTLE over time (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it went a little over budget as well).  Well here we are getting ready to start our own construction project, building a new house.

I seriously thought about trying to film the project a la HomeTime or This Old House.  But since I don’t think I can get Matthew to handle the camera (much less appear on it like Jo-Jo, or Robin) I think that all I can commit to is a Blog.  Also I thought this would be a good idea to Matthew tell you about the construction as well, without having to clog up your inbox.  You can come here to see where we are at as we move forward.

So without further ado, I think I need to start with the simple pictures of the site where we will be building the house.

And Finally, so you know where it is located…
